More than 27 million Swiss francs secured for investments in water and utility infrastructure and drainage system in the Gorski Kotar region.

The Ministry of Regional Development and European Union Funds, the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Green Transition and Croatian Waters have signed an agreement on the implementation of the “Water Supply and Wastewater” program, which is financed from the Second Swiss Contribution, and which has secured more than 27 million Swiss francs for investments in water and utility infrastructure and drainage system in the Gorski Kotar region.
The start of the implementation of the “Water Supply and Sewerage” program was officially marked in Delnice, and the event was attended by, among others, State Secretary of the Ministry of Regional Development and European Union Funds Domagoj Mikulić, Director General of Croatian Waters Zoran Đuroković, Ambassador of the Swiss Confederation to Croatia Beatrice Schaer, Director of the Josip Juraj Strossmayer Institute for Water Mario Šiljeg, Mayors of Delnice, Vrbovsko and Čabar, Mayors of the municipalities of Mrkopalj, Lokve, Skrad, Ravna Gora and Fužine, as well as representatives of the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) of the Swiss Confederation and the Swiss Contribution Office (SCO).
On this occasion, Director General of Croatian Waters Zoran Đuroković and Director of the Directorate for Water Management and Marine Protection at the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Green Transition Elizabeta Kos presented the contracts on the allocation of contributions for the implementation of the “Water Supply and Wastewater” program. The contracts were presented to KD Vodoopskrba i kanalizacija d.o.o. Rijeka, as the manager of component 1, and the Josip Juraj Strossmayer Water Institute, as the manager of component 2. In addition, Croatian Waters signed agreements with representatives of the cities of Delnica, Vrbovsko and Čabar, and the municipalities of Mrkopalj, Lokve, Skrad and Ravna Gora on co-financing the first component of the program “Water supply and wastewater in the Gorski Kotar region”. This investment will improve the water supply infrastructure and the infrastructure for drainage and wastewater treatment of the agglomerations of Mrkopalj, Lokve, Brod Moravice – Skrad, Ravna Gora, Vrbovsko and Čabar, reconstruct and build a water supply network, build a wastewater drainage system, as well as 2 wastewater treatment plants.
As part of the event, participants also visited the facilities built under the “Water supply and drainage” program of the city of Delnica, the municipality of Fužine and the municipality of Brod Moravice, financed by the First Swiss Contribution.
