The Call \u201cThe Contribution of Civil Society Organisations to the Development of Local Communities through Micro-projects\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

A formal contract award ceremony was held on 26 October 2026 at Urania \u2013 Space of Creation in Zagreb, as part of the third call for proposals under the Civic Engagement Programme of the Second Swiss Contribution to the Republic of Croatia. The Government Office for Cooperation with NGOs of the Republic of Croatia, acting as the Programme Operator, awarded eleven contracts with a total value exceeding \u20ac1.1 million. The event brought together representatives of institutions, civil society organisations and other stakeholders committed to strengthening civil society in smaller and less developed local communities.<\/p>\n

The opening session featured addresses by Helena Beus, Acting Head of the Government Office for Cooperation with NGOs of the Republic of Croatia; Iva Novak, Acting Head of the Directorate for Strategic Planning and Coordination of EU Funds at the Ministry of Regional Development and EU Funds; Majda Buri\u0107, representative of the President of the Croatian Parliament; and Beatrice Schaer, Ambassador of the Swiss Confederation to the Republic of Croatia.<\/p>\n

The aim of the Call is to empower smaller civil society organisations to continue their successful work and remain actively engaged in their local communities. The selected organisations have designed micro-projects tailored to the needs of their communities, in cooperation with other civil society organisations, institutions, local and regional self-government units, and Swiss partner organisations.<\/p>\n

The micro-projects focus on identifying practical solutions to the challenges faced by local communities and different social groups. Planned activities include training sessions and workshops, volunteering initiatives and local community actions, promoting citizen participation in addressing community needs, strengthening the capacities of civil society organisations, and improving cooperation with local partners.<\/p>\n

The contract award ceremony highlighted the importance of supporting initiatives that respond to the needs of local communities and foster their development, particularly in less developed areas. The supported micro-projects will contribute to regional development and help create better living conditions in municipalities, towns and counties classified as assisted areas. These areas are classified into Groups I and II of counties and Groups I to IV of towns and municipalities, in accordance with the Decision on the Classification of Local and Regional Self-Government Units According to Their Level of Development.<\/p>\n

Following the formal contract award ceremony, an implementation workshop was held for the beneficiaries, providing key information and guidance to support the successful implementation of the contracted projects.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
